Prof.Yoshihiro MURAKAMIAssist. Prof.Masahiro HATAKEYAMA Research Focus Recent development of in vivo imaging enable us to track disruption of brain environment, such as abnormal protein deposition and neuroinflammation in addition to neuronal function. The aims of our department are to investigate the watershed between healthy brain aging and brain diseases, and to reveal pathological bases of diverse brain disorders using multimodal imaging technique including PET (positron emission tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). We will execute the clinical imaging study contributing to finding out pathological bases of neuropsychiatric disorders, leading to the establishing novel techniques of early diagnosis, treatment and prevention, by collaborating with government, industry, and academic researchers inside and outside Brain Research Institute. As a leading laboratory in this field, we have ambitious plans to cultivate human resources capable of conducting translational study.
