The lectures are based on preparatory lessons, and actively incorporate participatory lessons, such as students actually observing and interviewing elderly people and their families, which are demonstrated by teachers.      In addition, we support independent learning by finding answers to the necessary nursing care through group discussions. Education（Subjects） 1. Gerontological Nursing We understand holistically the elderly who have diverse lifestyles and be faced with changes in family structure and social roles, mental and physical dysfunction due to aging, and inevitably death. In addition, students will learn basic nursing for elderly people with health problems and dementia and their families who live in diverse places of life. 2. Practicum in Gerontological Nursing We teach nursing to support return to life for adults and the elderly who have health problems such as disease, trauma, and social life including daily life due to aging. Students Research Interests Elderly care / dementia / research on communication of the elderly / research on ADL of the elderly, etc. Social Activities      The field of Gerontological Nursing is in charge of instructors for workshops on geriatric nursing and nursing ethics (general training, certified nursing manager education course first level, second level, practical training instructor course) at the request of the Tochigi Nursing Association. We also actively hold lectures at the request of the Tochigi Prefectural Council of Social Welfare, Mibu Town, Oyama City, and hospitals in neighboring prefectures.
